The employee is responsible for the examination of firearms, toolmarks, and fracture identification associated with police investigations involving firearms and ballistic evidence. Duties include conducting forensic examination of firearms and firearms-related evidence. Also prepares comprehensive investigative reports, test-fires and photographs firearms, performs chemical/electrolytic etching or magnetic processes for serial number restoration, conducts forensic examinations to determine muzzle proximity, trajectory analysis, and testify in court as an expert witness.
