The employee is responsible for the examination of firearms, toolmarks, and fracture identification associated with police investigations involving firearms and ballistic evidence. Duties include conducting forensic examination of firearms and firearms-related evidence. Also prepares comprehensive investigative reports, test-fires and photographs firearms, performs chemical/electrolytic etching or magnetic processes for serial number restoration, conducts forensic examinations to determine muzzle proximity, trajectory analysis, and testify in court as an expert witness.

Qualifications:

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Jsutice, Criminology, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Two (2) years of full-time experience conducting examinations of firearms, bullets, and related evicence as a firearmes examiner Court-qualified as an expert witness.

Salary Minimum:

$44,900

Salary Maximum:

$74,181
