The DuPage County Forensic Science Center at the Sheriff’s Office in Wheaton, Illinois is currently seeking applicants for the position of Forensic Scientist - Latent Print Examiner. The laboratory is a state-of-the-art facility that was awarded reaccreditation in 2011 through ASCLD/LAB-International after becoming only the second county crime laboratory in the United States to earn this prestigious recognition in 2006.

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree or higher in Forensic Science, Chemistry, Biology, or other natural science or related program; academic credentials shall be compliant with the educational requirements recommended by both ASCLD/LAB-International and SWGFAST for latent print examiners.
A minimum of two years full-time work experience in latent print examination, comparison, identification, and development for an accredited laboratory.
Conducts processing and preparations of physical evidence suspected of bearing fingerprints; conducts comparisons of questioned or latent fingerprints to known standards.
Enters latent prints into an Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS)
Serves as an expert in court on all phases of latent print identification; prepares photographs and other material for demonstration of evidence in court.
Working knowledge of computer software: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook and Adobe Photoshop.
Working knowledge of applicable ASCLD/LAB-International accreditation standards.
Certification as a Latent Print Examiner through the I.A.I is highly desirable.
