Associate Lab Director

Identigene is seeking an Associate Laboratory Director to work with the Lab Director to help ensure compliance with accreditation standards as well as assist with the technical oversight of the relationship testing component of its operations including but not limited to laboratory processes, data integrity and casework review and reporting.

 

Duties for this position include but are not limited to the review of relationship testing casework and associated genetic data, consulting with the laboratory regarding data quality concerns and improvements, consulting with clients regarding case results and interpretation, providing expert legal testimony when needed, providing continuing education, training and otherwise acting as a constructive mentor to laboratory staff, working closely with the Case Production team to resolve technical and non-technical issues with casework, assisting the Laboratory Director to help ensure compliance with all accreditation requirements, be available for all relevant audits and be involved with and help manage the development, validation and implementation of new relationship testing processes, reagents, instruments, procedures and products.  The successful candidate will be proficient with basic statistical methods and computer-based technologies and will have a firm understanding of the underlying principles of human genetics and molecular biological methods.  This position requires management skills and experience. LEAN Six-Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt experience and/or certification a plus. Finally, candidates must demonstrate working experience with assay design, laboratory implementation and validation.

Qualifications: 

Minimum Requirements:

­Ph.D. in a relevant biological science.

Practical experience with the study of human polymorphisms including: microsatellite/STRs, mtDNA sequence variation, genetic mapping and linkage, haplotype analysis, population genetics.

Ability to work as part of a highly-functioning multi-disciplinary team.
Ability to handle several projects simultaneously and multi-task well.

Detail-oriented
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong initiative and demonstrated ability to take ownership of challenging problems.

Preferred:


Experience with GeneMapper, Sequencer (optional).

Experience with understanding Applied Biosystems genetic analyzers in concept.
2 years experience in a commercial environment.
Specific experience in the analysis of human relatedness.

Experience with other genomics tools and technologies.

Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems.
