BAE Systems’ Joint Expeditionary Forensics Facilities (JEFF) Program is aggressively searching for talented professionals with experience as DNA Analysts who wish to be a part of a dynamic team working in deployed forensic laboratories.  Analysts will support the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Laboratory’s (USACIL) Expeditionary Forensic Laboratories in Afghanistan.  Analysts will be responsible for examining and screening evidence to include serological testing, performing DNA testing on applicable samples, analyzing and interpreting results, performing mixture analysis and comparisons, reporting conclusions, technically reviewing the casework of colleagues, and other duties as assigned.

Individuals must be able to prioritize and execute on multiple requests in order to handle a very high volume of work.  In addition to the technical skills above, additional attributes such as innovativeness, self-motivation, professionalism, organizational skills, exemplary work habits, and flexibility suitable for an expeditionary environment are highly regarded.

 

During time of deployment, substantial amounts of additional compensation will be added to base salary.  Housing and food are provided.  BAE Systems offers competitive salary and benefits.  Please inquire for additional details.

Qualifications: 

Required skills:

 

- Minimum education requirement: Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or a forensic science related area and completed course work covering the subject areas of: biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, statistics and/or population genetics.

- Minimum experience requirement: Two years as a trained examiner in a forensic DNA laboratory working casework independently.

- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

- Willingness to deploy to Afghanistan for up to one year.

 

Preferred skills:

 

- Experience with the following: ABI 3130xl (or 3100), Identifiler and Yfiler chemistries, ABI 7500 (or 7000), ABI GeneMapper IDX software, and the EZ 1 robot.
