Forensic Laboratory Technician

Under the direction of a supervisory toxicologist does and assists with laboratory technical work in a forensic analytical chemistry laboratory and does other related duties as required. Duties will include but no be limited to :

1. Prepare reagents and stock solutions.

2. Assist in all Standard Operating Procedures involved in making required tests/analyses.

3. Perform liquid/liquid and solid phase extractions of biological fluids and tissues.

4. Prepare tissue homogenates.

5. Perform preliminary Color Testing/Carbon Monoxide/Cyanide Analyses.

6. Record and maintain records of analytical testing.

Qualifications: 

A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in Forensic Science, Toxicology, Analytical Chemistry or a closely related scientific field.

Some experience working in a toxicological, forensic or analytical chemistry laboratory conducting varied types of chemical tests and analyses. Some experience using: UV/Vis spectrohotometer,HPLC, GC, and GC/MS instruments.

Familiarity with using and entering data into a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

Salary Minimum: 
$29,000
