Criminalist - Controlled Substances Section

Analyze controlled substances evidence using established procedures and guidelines, keep precise records, and develop scientific conclusions. Generate accurate report within 48 hours. Receives a minimum of seven cases per day. Secures, preserves, inventories, and stores evidence according to established procedures. Properly documents all evidence immediately upon receiving. Maintains security and chain of custody documentation of evidence at all times. Participates in laboratory projects and completes the tasks as assigned by the supervisor. Responsible for quality control check for the reagent every month and make necessary documentation. Provides training for police cadets. Responsible for performing basic maintenance, calibration, and quality control of instruments. Provides technical assistance to police officers, assistant district attorneys, other law enforcement agencies, and civic groups. Testifies in court regarding the scientific conclusions obtained from the analysis of evidence. Provides expert testimony accurately and effectively.

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Criminalistics, Biology, Physics or a related field with a minimum of 30 (thirty) hours of Chemistry. Transcripts required
