Forensic Scientist II - Toxicology

The Criminalistics Division of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a qualified applicant for a position in our Toxicology Section. The major duties of the position include performing laboratory examinations and preparing reports on body fluids and tissues submitted by local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to identify the presence or absence of alcohol and other drugs for investigative and legal purposes. The applicant must be able to provide scientific assistance to external parties and to testify in court as an expert witness.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, criminalistics/forensic science, natural science or any other closely related field with laboratory science coursework. Minimum of two years of toxicology experience is required. Certification with American Board of Forensic Toxicology (ABFT),   Forensic Toxicologist Certification Board (FTCB) or similar is preferred.

The applicant will be required to successfully complete a laboratory training program in toxicology and a competency test before beginning independent casework.

Annual
$61,713.60 to $80,475.20 (Commensurate with experience)
