Position Objectives:

 The primary objective of this position is to serve as a Validation Report writer and reviewer for all validation projects associated with HID Professional Services (HPS). In addition, this person will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of revised report templates which will serve as the standard from which all future reports will be written.

Essential Functions:

Contribute to the success of the HPS business through the high level technical and scientific writing associated with validation reports generated during the course of HPS projects. In addition, the person will be responsible for conducting the final technical reviews associated with all validation reports written by external consultants. The person in this position will be a key member of the validation team and integrated into all functional aspects of the projects to ensure an understanding of the technical elements of a project to ensure accurate reporting out of the results and conclusions generated.

Experience:

The ideal candidate will have served as a senior DNA analyst for at least 3 years and/or as a Technical Leader in a forensic laboratory. The candidate must have extensive experience in conducting and/or writing validation reports associated with laboratory validations. Candidates may be asked to submit writing samples as part of the interview process.

Candidate will contribute to the goals of both the HPS organization and the HID business through tenacity, creativity, and scientific and professional excellence. Candidate will report to the Director, HID Validation and Professional Services. 

Minimum education: B.S. degree in the life sciences, M.S. preferred.

Business Justification:

The continued global expansion of the HPS business requires that a resource be dedicated to writing and reviewing the technical reports that result from each validation project. Currently, many of the reports are outsourced to external consultants to write, but this model is effecting the ability of HPS team to get reports out in a timely fashion. Having an internal person focused exclusively on this element of the projects will result in faster turnaround times, greater consistency among the reports, and cost reduction relating to less outsourcing.

Location of Position:

This position will be located in Life Technologies’ Frederick, MD location.
