The Kentucky Medical Examiner Division of the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet announces a newly created full-time position for a forensic pathologist available beginning January 1, 2013, at the Northern Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office in Fort Thomas, Kentucky (Campbell County). The successful candidate will join a full time, board-certified Forensic Pathologist in an office with a long history of stability within the community, and the state. The Northern Kentucky Medical Examiner Office serves several counties in Northern Kentucky, including the southern "bedroom communities" of Cincinnati, Ohio. This area abounds with cultural opportunities and professional sporting venues, but with a very affordable cost of living, and a relaxed southern living atmosphere. The caseload is anticipated to be between 200 and 230 cases per year, with weekend coverage expected to be every third weekend. Salary range is based on the state employee salary grade. The salary range offered at this grade is $108,552 up to $173,688 for a Medical Examiner I (Board Eligible) and $113,976 up to $182,352 for a Medical Examiner II (Board Certified). As a state employee, the new forensic pathologist will enjoy full benefits, including family healthcare and/or flexible spending accounts, participation in the state retirement system, and options to participate in the deferred compensation program.

Applications will be accepted until a candidate is chosen.
