Assistant Professor of Forensic Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physics in the College of Natural & Health Sciences at The University of Tampa invites applications for a tenure-track position in Forensic Chemistry at the Assistant Professor level, starting in August 2013.

A Ph.D. in Forensic Science, Analytical Chemistry, or Biochemistry with an emphasis in forensic chemistry, chemical toxicology, trace evidence, firearms, or forensic DNA analysis is desired.  Candidates with postdoctoral teaching, research, and laboratory service experience are preferred.

Responsibilities will include teaching forensic DNA analysis, trace evidence analysis or other forensic specialty courses, teaching undergraduate general chemistry lecture and lab courses for science and non-science majors, and establishing an undergraduate research program in the area of forensic chemistry. Research laboratory space and a modest start-up allowance will be provided. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Candidates are expected to have a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring student research, scholarly activity, and service within the environment of an undergraduate liberal arts institution.
A typical teaching load is 12 contact hours in a 14-week semester.
