The Department of Pathology of Western Michigan University School of Medicine is seeking academically-oriented forensic pathologists to participate in forensic pathology and a medical examiner practice, and contribute to curriculum development and education of medical students. The Medical Examiner duties of the department will begin in 2013. Under the leadership of a board-certified forensic pathologist, at least three forensic pathologists will initially form this new department and share responsibilities. The state-of-the-art forensic pathology laboratory is currently under construction as part of a $68 million renovation and expansion of a seven-story building in downtown Kalamazoo that will serve as the home of the new medical school. The medical examiner’s office will seek accreditation by the National Association of Medical Examiners.
