Will train or pass competency tests on DNA PCR-based STR analysis on evidence related to criminal casework Perform testing on relationship and paternity casework. Extract DNA on a variety of samples using both automated and manual techniques. Prepare reports on results for use in criminal cases as an expert witness. Prepare reports for paternity and relationship cases. Review casework for other analysts. Duties may include implementation of other laboratory functions.
This position requires a bachelor's degree in the biological sciences with courses in Statistics, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The individual must meet the FBI's requirements for a technical analyst/examiner (standard 5-4). One year experience preferred but those with less experience are encouraged to apply and will be considered.
