Forensic Scientist III - Forensic Biology/DNA

Responsibilities may include serving as a supervisor, technical leader, and CODIS administrator of the Forensic Biology Unit of the Crime Laboratory; performing complex examinations and analyses of evidence; preparing written reports of findings; performing quality assurance; and presenting oral testimony in court.

The Columbus Police Crime Laboratory, an ASCLD/LAB-International, ISO 17025 accredited forensic laboratory, is currently accepting resumes for a Forensic Scientist III position in Forensic Biology/DNA. A Forensic Scientist III in Forensic Biology/DNA serves as supervisor and technical leader. This advertisement is directed toward trained/experienced forensic biologists possessing a master’s degree or higher with preference given to those with supervisory experience. Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree with significant coursework (21 semester or 32-quarter hours) in forensic science, chemistry, biology, or a closely related physical or natural science and five (5) years of forensic laboratory experience. Applicants must also possess a master’s degree in forensic science, chemistry, biology or closely related physical or natural science which may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience. A doctorate's degree in forensic science, chemistry, biology or closely related physical or natural science may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience. Applicants must satisfy all the educational and experience requirements for Technical Leader as specified by the FBI Quality Assurance Standards.
