Forensic Scientist III - Quality Assurance Manager

Responsibilities may include managing the laboratory’s quality assurance program to include the maintenance of accreditation requirements such as maintaining accreditation records and submitting necessary reports to the accrediting body, conducting internal audits, organizing external audits, and initiating corrective actions. Responsibilities may also include performing complex examinations and analyses of evidence; preparing written reports of findings; and presenting oral testimony in court.

The Columbus Police Crime Laboratory, an ASCLD/LAB-International, ISO 17025 accredited forensic laboratory, is currently accepting resumes for a Forensic Scientist III position to serve as the Quality Assurance Manager for the laboratory. This advertisement is directed toward trained/experienced forensic scientists with preference given to those scientists with experience as an ASCLD/LAB assessor. Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree with significant coursework (21 semester or 32-quarter hours) in forensic science, chemistry, biology, or a closely related physical or natural science and five (5) years of forensic laboratory experience. A master’s degree in forensic science, chemistry, biology or closely related physical or natural science may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience. A doctorate's degree in forensic science, chemistry, biology or closely related physical or natural science may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.
