Criminalist I: A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Forensic Science, or in a closely related natural science, with a minimum of 12 hours coursework in Biology. Coursework in one or more of the following is also required: Biochemistry, Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Statistics or Population Genetics.
Criminalist II: A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Forensic Science, or in a closely related natural science, with a minimum of 12 hours coursework in Biology, plus one year of experience as a Forensic Laboratory Criminalist in Forensic Serology and/or Forensic DNA. Coursework in two or more of the following is also required: Biochemistry, Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Statistics or Population Genetics.
Criminalist III: A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Forensic Science, or in a closely related natural science, with a minimum of 12 hours coursework in Biology, plus three years of experience as a forensic laboratory Criminalist in Forensic Serology and Forensic DNA. No more than two years experience in Forensic Serology is accepted as qualifying. Coursework in all of the following is also required: Biochemistry, Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Statistics or Population Genetics.
