DNA ANALYST TRAINERS (US Bases, Afghanistan)

Ideal Innovations, Inc. (I-3) is seeking DNA Analyst Trainers for employment as civilian contractors supporting US military activity in laboratory setting on-base in Afghanistan.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:  

  • Provide training and support to include subject-matter expertise in the facilitation of forensic DNA analysis related issues, requests for information, taskings, briefings, training or other related requirements.
  • Receive, inventory, and sign for physical evidence; maintain evidence integrity.
  • Plan, organize and execute approaches necessary to obtain forensically useful information from the evidence submitted.
  • Prepare written reports suitable for court, briefing, intelligence needs, as required.
  • May travel to major crime scenes of serious and/or sensitive investigations to supervise and/or advise investigators on proper collection, preservation, and packaging of physical evidence within the Forward Operating Base (FOB). 
  • Conduct DNA analysis on submitted evidence following a validated DNA protocol.
  • Adhere to current DNA national quality assurance standards Adhere to the USACIL requirements for data acceptance.
  • Provide the USACIL data to include but is not limited to the areas of quality assurance, validation, audit documentation, instrumental, analytical, and work product.
  • Provide training to US Forces in evidence recognition, documentation, collection, packaging, and submission to the laboratory.
  • Be a journeyman level examiner from an ASCLD/LAB legacy or ISO accredited laboratory.
  • Ability to provide instruction on the
    • Screening methods of biological evidence for the purpose of DNA analysis.
    • Proper collection and preservation of DNA evidence.
    • DNA Laboratory techniques and required protocols regarding quality control and clean techniques.
    • Fundamental elements of DNA analysis.
    • Will be required to formalize and publish a written Program of Instruction for the purpose of training host country nationals.
    • Develop a training agenda incorporating the developed Program of Instruction.

 Must:

  • Be formally trained in
    • Forensic Serology and DNA at a state or federal American Society Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB) or ISO 17025 accredited laboratory. 
    • Proper collection, preservation, and packaging of physical evidence at major crime scenes.
    • Have a minimum of three (3) years experience working in an accredited laboratory conducting the full range of forensic serology and DNA work described above. 
    • Successfully pass a discipline specific competency test approved by USACIL prior to and annually thereafter during employment with the company.

    General Requirements:

    • Have intermediate level competency in Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
    • Be able to work well in a team environment; possess excellent organizational skills. 
    • Must be able to meet the following physical demands:
      • Government requirements for medical fitness.
      • Work approximately 12 hours per day, seven days a week for extended periods of time.
      • Attend pre-deployment training.
      • Lift 70 lbs. to a working height of 48 inches.
      • General office and laboratory duties/functions.
    • Be willing to rotationally deploy to Afghanistan for a minimum of six months to a year.
    • Either currently possess or be able to obtain a US Secret Clearance and US Passport.
