Young Forensic Scientists Forum Newsletter - March/April 2003

Message From the Chairperson
by Amy C. Price, BS

In my first message to the Academy News readers as YFSF Chairperson, I must first thank Ken Williams for all of the hard work and dedication he has given to the YFSF for the last two years as Chairperson. Ken is going to be a hard act to follow, but I hope to continue the good work that he has done to make the YFSF stronger and more successful than ever. Luckily, I will have the much appreciated assistance of our new Secretary, Sheila Estacio, and our new Program Director, Claire Shepard, who have both been dedicated and committed members of the YFSF for years. With their help, and with the help of the newest members we recruited at the 2003 meeting, I hope to continue to build the attendance of students and young forensic scientists at the annual meetings, to increase the involvement of newer members within the Academy, and to incorporate the new ideas and suggestions given to the YFSF for the upcoming year. In the next few months, you should look forward to some changes to the format of the newsletter, some updated information on the YFSF website, as well as information on events being planned for the 2004 meeting in Dallas. Our team would love to have you become involved and we are very interested in any suggestions you may have to help keep the YFSF fresh, new, and exciting! Please contact me at aprice@dfs.state.va.us with any input or suggestions you may have. I am eager to serve the YFSF as we look forward to Dallas.
