Young Forensic Scientists Forum Newsletter - January 2001 Academic Press & YFSF Present Essays on Forensics in the New Millennium |
| In 1998, Academic Press approached the YFSF with the idea of an essay contest that would ask the question, “What is the role of the forensic scientist in the new millennium?” The YFSF responded by asking young forensic scientists to provide their thoughts on this topic as it relates to their particular field of study. Over the past two years, four scientists took the time to put their thoughts down on paper and submit their essays. We had hoped for more entrants, but four has turned out to be enough. The essays are both eloquent and excellent and present progressive views on the future of forensic science. Although we decided not to choose one winner, entrants received a gift certificate to Academic Press for their efforts. It is not without a bit of pride that we have decided to post all four essays on the YFSF Web site www.aafs.org/yfsf and to present one essay in four issues of the YFSF Newsletter.
Thanks to each entrant for the time, effort and thoughtfulness they put into their essays. They have truly given us a glimpse of the future in forensic science. |
