J. Lawrence Angel Award Announcement

The deadline for submissions for J.Lawrence Angel student paper award competition is approaching! All entries must be received by Monday, January 22, 2001. Interested students who already have had a single-authored abstract for a paper or poster accepted for the Physical Anthropology section of the 2001 AAFS Annual Meeting must submit three copies of their paper (or the expanded text of their poster, complete with citations) to: Dr. Tal Simmons
Chairman, J.L. Angel Award Committee
Department of Anthropology
Western Michigan University
Kalamazoo, MI 49008

The award is given on the basis of both the originality and quality of research and on the quality of the presentation itself. Each student competing for the award must present his/her own work, in person, at the AAFS meeting. Students competing for the award are guaranteed partial reimbursement for their travel expenses and there is a certificate (to be presented in a ceremony at the 2002 AAFS Annual Meeting) and a monetary award for the winner of the competition.

Dr. Simmons may be contacted at the above address, or by e-mail (tal.simmons@wmich.edu), or by phone and fax
(616 387 3973) with any questions regarding the competition.
