New Panel Addition to the Seattle Meeting
by Sheila Estacio, BA

So you want to be a forensic scientist? You want to have that dream job and investigate every crime scene and be famous. Or you want to solve cases in an hour like they do on Law and Order, CSI, or even be like the Profiler, Quincy, or Scully. Or, maybe now you are just looking forward to getting any job in forensic science. How do you do it? What do employers expect of you? Do you have to be in a forensic science program?

Expectations and Realities for Forensic Science Employment
may just answer these questions. The goal of this discussion panel is to help shape realistic expectations and goals for new and young forensic scientists. The panel will consist of lab directors, heads of forensic science programs, and representatives from the "new" and "young" forensic science workforce.
This is a new edition to the program for the AAFS Annual Meeting in Seattle. It will follow the YFSF Special Session on Tuesday, February 20, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. And the best part-it's free!

If you are a lab director, director or professor in a forensic science program, undergrad or graduate student in forensic science or any of the natural science, and would like to be a part of the panel, please contact Sheila Estacio by phone at: 212-447-2618, or via e-mail at: virtutek1@yahoo.com
