Young Forensic Scientists Forum Newsletter - May/June 2001

Editor's Notes
by Amy C. Price, BS

Everyone seems to have survived both the 2001 AAFS Annual Meeting in Seattle and the earthquake that soon followed. The YFSF is not commenting on the correlation between the two events, but this editor finds it suspicious that an earthquake followed the annual meeting by less than two days. Coincidence? You be the judge….

This meeting was clearly the most ambitious in YFSF history, and every event was a resounding success. The offices of Chairman and Secretary were announced at the breakfast meeting. Amy Price accepted the position of Secretary and Ken Williams is the new Chairman. Both would like to thank former Chairman Carrie Kuehn and former Secretary Nicole Nuckley for all of their hard work and dedication.

In this issue, you will find summaries of the events at the 2001 Meeting in Seattle including the Special Session, YFSF BYOS, and a panel discussion on forensic employment. Also included is a wonderful article on internships by Marilyn Miller. Additionally, you will find the second essay from the AP Essay Contest winners.

This is my first newsletter and I hope you find it interesting and informative. If you have something you would like published in the YFSF Newsletter, including award or scholarship announcements, articles, and/or commentary, please send your submissions to Amy Price at aprice@dfs.state.va.us. I hope that you enjoy this issue!
