Young Forensic Scientists Forum Newsletter - November 2001

Time To Be Heard
by Ken Williams, YFSF Chairperson

The YFSF Newsletter is produced in order to address the issues that affect the Young Forensic Scientist. We have been fortunate to receive submissions from authors ranging from undergraduate students to crime scene investigators to university professors. A typical issue of the YFSF Newsletter may include essay entries, grant announcements, insightful investigative articles as well as submitted opinion pieces. Those items mentioned have made for what we hope to be a nice newsletter. However, we would like to add yet another area. The YFSF would like to hear from you, the reader. Each issue will now include a "What Do You Think…" section. This is your opportunity to share with the Young Forensic Scientist community by commenting on a chosen topic.

Realizing that not of all of the readers fall into the student or five years of experience or less category, the committee welcomes responses from all readers. It is felt that this is an excellent opportunity to allow you, the reader, to be heard. Comments should be kept to seventy-five words or less and e-mailed to Ken Williams at ken25@gateway.net. All submissions may be edited and are left to the discretion of the editor for publication.

To kick off this section, the committee would like to know "What Do You Think… about undergraduate versus graduate studies in forensic science?”
