Editor's Notes - November 2002

by Amy Price, BS, YFSF Secretary

The time for all of us to bundle up and head off to Chicago in February is quickly approaching (remember folks, dress in layers!), and so we include some exciting announcements about the Special Session and some reader response to our proposed name change from the last issue. The deadline for registering for the YFSF Special Session will be here before you know it, so be sure to get those forms filled out and send them in! We don't want anyone to miss out on the Special Session, the Breakfast meeting, the Interview and Resume Workshop, or the YFSF Bring Your Own Slides Session.

As always, if you are interested in participating in the YFSF, the best way to get involved is to submit an article for the newsletter. Everyone has a story to tell and we would like to hear yours. For example, in this issue we include an article from an international young forensic scientist about how she decided on forensic science as her career and how she hopes to utilize her education. How did you get interested in forensic science and how do you plan on achieving your goal? Have you completed an internship? Are you already in the field and do you have some advice that may help some of those just starting out? An article on this or any other topic that you suggest could be the first step to seeing your name IN PRINT. Please contact Amy Price at aprice@dfs.state.va.us for any questions, comments, or to submit an article.
