Young Forensic Scientists Forum Newsletter - September 2001 YFSF
Informational Session at the MAAFS/SAFS Joint Meeting |
| The setting was colonial Williamsburg with quaint shops, locals in period dress, and several hundred forensic scientists. It was the joint meeting of the Mid-Atlantic Association of Forensic Scientists (MAAFS) and the Southern Association of Forensic Scientists (SAFS) held in April 2001, in Williamsburg, VA. Both organizations were kind and generous to allow me to hold an informal informational session at the meeting. I met with eight students and young forensic scientists to inform them about the YFSF, the Web site, the newsletter, and most importantly the special session held at the annual meeting. Everyone seemed very excited about the Forum and some were interested in creating their own local version of the YFSF. Although plans are still in the works, the prospects seem encouraging that student members of MAAFS may be able to start their own forum at a local level. If you are a member of a local professional forensic science organization and are going to be attending a meeting, I would encourage you to let your fellow colleagues know about the YFSF. Spread the word! You are our best advertisement. |
