Young Forensic Scientists Forum Newsletter - May 1999 Editor's Notes |
| The Young Forensic Scientists Forum
accomplished many of its goals in 1998. The completion of the web site, the resurrection
of the newsletter, the development of another special session and the progress with the
Mentor Program were all achieved. 1999 looks to be even better. Plans include the
development of YFSF bylaws, expansion of the web site, three issues of the newsletter, a
Y2K Time Capsule and other special projects. Keep an eye out for upcoming issues of this
newsletter to bring you award announcements, 2000 AAFS Annual Meeting information, survey
results and stories from your peers. In this issue, the YFSF has a brief overview of the events at the 1999 AAFS Annual Meeting in Orlando, information regarding how to be a good mentoree once you find that perfect internship, and the YFSF announces its 1999 Steering Committee members. Also, Sharon Ballard, a nurse from Seattle, WA, tells us about Forensic Nursing and her perceptions of this growing field. Monty Nelson, a death investigator from King County, Seattle, shares his exploits at the Body Farm and his experience at the Medicolegal Death Investigation Training School. I would like to acknowledge my new Newsletter Committee members, Pam Cook and Laura Lopez. They will be helping me put future issues together so I can take on even more work! I hope you enjoy this issue of the YFSF Newsletter. As always, please send your thoughts, articles, experiences and announcements to cmweiler@eskimo.com. Thanks! |
