In Memorium

Gary Boccia, BS, Student Member of the Criminalistics Section, passed away suddenly on October 30, 1998, at the age of 25.

Gary was a 1997 graduate of John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City with a bachelor’s degree in forensic science. He was an intern at Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office in Hauppauge, NY, before becoming employed as a forensic chemist with the Drug Enforcement Administration Northeast Laboratory, New York City, in March 1998.

During the time Gary spent at the Northeast Laboratory, he managed to touch everyone’s heart. He will be remembered as a bright, respectable, hard-working chemist with a thirst for knowledge. His memory is being honored by the development of the John Jay College-Gary Boccia Memorial Scholarship. The recipient of this scholarship will be a John Jay College student of financial need who is pursuing a degree in forensic science.

Any donation toward the scholarship fund is welcomed and greatly appreciated. Donations can be made out to John Jay College-Gary Boccia Memorial Scholarship Fund and sent to:
