Assistant Professor of Practice - Forensic Science In Person
Responsibilities
The Department of Environmental Toxicology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month Assistant Professor of Practice in Forensic Science (in-person) to begin September 2024. The successful candidate will teach classes within the Masters in Forensic Science degree program. Examples of subject areas include the following: crime scene investigation, criminal investigations, advanced criminal investigations, scene processing and reconstruction, medicolegal investigations, pattern evidence, and digital evidence.
At Texas Tech University, the Professor of Practice title is used to recruit individuals with exceptional backgrounds and achievements in academic, business, government, or other professional practice. Primary responsibilities normally will be to teach in an area of expertise, mentor students in professional and career preparation, and liaise with professional contacts and entities on behalf of the department.
Qualifications
In line with TTU’s strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants must have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate and graduate levels within or across the areas of teaching, and/or research/creative activity, and/or service. Applicants must have at least an M.S. in Forensic Science, Criminalistics, or a related physical/natural science. Previous forensic practitioner experience (private or government) is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in a Forensic Science, Criminalistics, or physical/natural science.
- Previous teaching experience, including demonstrated pedagogy in the form of professional training activities, is preferred.
- A track record of professional service to the discipline and publication contribution to their field of expertise are also preferred.
