Crime Lab Criminalist

Responsibilities
The principal function of an employee in this class is to perform journey-level laboratory and technical evidence work in areas such as crime scene processing, evidence collection, evidence processing, drug testing, digital photo/video evidence processing, latent fingerprint processing and comparison. Work is performed under the general direction of the Forensic Services Supervisor. The principal duties of this class are performed in a work environment in which the employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions and to potential personal danger.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry or related field;
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience with police identification work, supplemented by certification, specialty workshops, and training in criminal investigations;
- Prior court room testimony experience;
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Compensation
Salary Range: $65,000 - $70,000 DOE (Hourly: $31.25 - $33.65) DOE
