The Crime Laboratory Supervisor assists in the management and operations of the Jefferson County Regional Crime Laboratory (JCRCL). As part of management team, provides the comprehensive forensic services to the law enforcement agencies within Jefferson County and others, as necessary, and participates in administrative functions, case assignment and review, provides input on annual budget preparation, may assist in expenditure approval and purchase of supplies, may provide input on grants and grant reporting, and provides information on equipment purchases. Administers routine personnel matters, including instructing, assisting, training, and advising employees of the JCRCL, reviewing performance, and recommending personnel actions. Works with the JCRCL Quality Assurance Coordinator and participates on the laboratory quality team to establish and monitor all aspects of quality related to the sections being supervised.
The lab's primary disciplines are Forensic Biology, Drug Chemistry, Firearms, and Latent Prints.
- Bachelor's Degree
- Five years of forensic science experience performing forensic casework in one of the ANAB ISO/IEC 17025 accredited disciplines
- Additional education in management or business administration by college course work or short training courses
- Preference will be given to applicants with a least one year of experience in supervisory, technical leader or managerial skills.
