Forensic Scientist 3 - Materials Analysis (In-Training) - Tacom

Responsibilities
- Perform trace-focused laboratory analysis of physical evidence in routine and complex casework using accepted scientific methods.
- Participate in Quality Assurance Practices, provide training, and actively advances expertise and knowledge
- Testify as an expert witness in a court of law
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
- Physics coursework (10 semester hours or 15 quarter hours)
- Chemistry coursework (20 semester hours or 30 quarter hours)
- Knowledge of the science of controlled substance, trace evidence, crime scene, latent fingerprints, questioned documents, firearms and toolmarks, and DNA
- Knowledge of proper evidence handling procedures
- Familiarity with ISO 17025 and Supplemental certification requirements
- Understanding of the theory and operation of analytical instruments, to include but not limited to maintenance and QC procedures: polarized light and comparison microscopes, FTIR spectroscopy, Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry and all other instruments as qualified
