Forensic Scientist II
Responsibilities
The Forensic Scientist will be responsible for the examination of physical evidence, body fluid analysis, performing DNA-STR (autosomal and Y-STR) analysis, interpretation of data with reporting, and testimony as an expert witness at criminal trials. In addition, the duties may include crime scene.
Applicants should be a currently qualified DNA analyst capable of signing casework reports.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, Forensic Science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university; Coursework required by the FBI Quality Assurance Standards For Forensic DNA Testing Laboratories 2020 (Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Statistics);
- At least four years of Forensic Biology casework experience including DNA-STR(autosomal and Y-STR) analysis, and a current casework signing analyst. Experience with probabilistic genotyping is a plus. OR
- A Master of Science Degree in Biology, Forensic Science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of casework experience including DNA-STR(autosomal and Y-STR) analysis, and a current casework signing analyst. Experience with probabilistic genotyping is a plus.
Compensation
Salary: approx. $84,000
