  • This is professional work in the field of forensic science using appropriate protocols to analyze latent print evidence. The employee will be performing examinations of physical evidence utilizing laboratory equipment; establishing standard operating procedures, methods, and techniques and providing Subject Matter Expert testimony which can be controversial and highly important to the prosecution and/or defense.


Experience: One (1) year of latent print analysis, comparison or examination.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Forensic Science from an accredited college or university or Certification in Latent Print Examination by the International Association for Identification (IAI).

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.


Possession and maintenance at all times of a valid Class “C” (or equivalent) driver’s license from the applicant’s state of residence.

Professional certification by the International Association for Identification not required but preferred.

Preferred Criteria:

  • Experience utilizing applicable scientific methodology to analyze, document, preserve, evaluate and compare latent impression evidence.
  • Experience testifying as a Latent Print Examiner Subject Matter Expert witness in court.
  • Experience with digital enhancement, entry, search and review of latent impression evidence in Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems (AFIS).
  • Experience working in a regulated environment under ISO accreditation (ANAB).
  • Experience with Daubert challenges of the latent print discipline.
