The mission of the Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission
(FEPAC) is to maintain and to enhance the quality of forensic science education through a formal evaluation and recognition of college-level academic programs. The primary function of the
Commission is to develop and to maintain standards and to administer an accreditation program that recognizes and distinguishes high quality undergraduate and graduate forensic science programs.
Pursuant to the
Forensic Science Education Program Accreditation Commission
(FEPAC) Policies & Procedures, 4.10 Review of Standards,
Long Term Review of Standards, FEPAC is to conduct an
in-depth review of the standards the primary purpose of
which is to determine if the current standards, when viewed
as a whole and individually, are adequate to evaluate the
quality of forensic science education programs and relevant
to the education and training needs of students.
Prior to the FEPAC Annual Meeting of February 2009, a survey
was distributed to relevant constituencies. Survey
responses were then compiled and examined and resulted in
revision to the current standards.
As per FEPAC Policies & Procedures 3.12, the Commission must
give constituents an opportunity to comment on any changes
prior to recommending the adoption of those changes to the
American Academy of Forensic Sciences Board of Directors;
therefore, I invite you to comment on the changes contained
in the document at this
link. You may either complete the document online and
select “Submit” (in the upper right corner) or print the
document and fax to:
