FEPAC 5-Year Standards Review—Call for Comments

Source: Nancy J. Jackson, FEPAC Accreditation & Outreach Coordinator

Pursuant to the Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission (FEPAC) Policies & Procedures Policy 4.11 Review of Standards: It is FEPAC policy to conduct ongoing and comprehensive reviews of its accreditation Standards to verify that they are adequate to evaluate educational quality and are relevant to the educational and training needs of students seeking a career in forensic science. FEPAC uses a combination of annual reviews, five-year longer-term reviews, and special reviews to accomplish this task.

At its annual business meeting, February 12, 2023, FEPAC concluded its long-term review of the Standards and proposed updates and is now publishing those edits for a Call for Comments from relevant constituencies to include AAFS members and other interested parties.

The proposed FEPAC Standards and comment form are available for download here: https://www.aafs.org/fepac/call-comments-2023. Many of the proposed changes are format only with the purpose of clarifying the intent and providing requirement details of the standard. All changes appear in red with deletions appearing with astrikethrough. Both documents are located under the "Needed Documents" portion of this page.

Use the Excel Spreadsheet for providing comments and suggestions. Follow the instructions detailed under "How to Upload Comments" to submit your comments.

Deadline for submission of comments is March 31, 2023.

Please direct any questions to Nancy J. Jackson, Accreditation and Outreach Coordinator at njackson@aafs.org.
