Manager for the Expert Witness Training Center and Crime Scene Laboratory

Responsibilities

Cedar Crest College invites applications for a Manager to lead our newly established Expert Witness Training Center and Crime Scene Laboratory, with a start date of July 2025. 

The Expert Witness Training Center is designed to provide specialized training for professionals who may be called upon to testify in court or other legal proceedings. This includes forensic scientists, law enforcement investigators, social workers, first responders, and others in related fields. The Center will also serve as a resource for trial attorneys, offering them opportunities to hone their skills in direct and cross-examination of expert witnesses. 

The Manager of the Center will play a central role in launching and shaping the direction of this innovative initiative. 

Duties include: 

  • Collaborate with Cedar Crest faculty across relevant disciplines to design, develop, and implement comprehensive training programs.
  • Recruit qualified instructors and subject matter experts.
  • Oversee and manage operations of the adjacent Crime Scene Laboratory, which will support professional training for law enforcement and forensic science personnel in crime scene management, processing, and reconstruction.
  • Build strategic partnerships with local, state, and national law enforcement agencies to promote and expand training opportunities.
  • Develop an assessment plan for the Center.
  • Lead outreach and marketing efforts to attract participants and generate interest in the Center’s offerings. 

This position is initially funded through a Byrne Grant for Fiscal Year 2025–2026. A key responsibility of the Manager during the first year will be to develop a sustainable business plan to support the Center’s continued operations through program fees, external grants, facility leasing, and potential endowment gifts.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., forensic science, criminal justice, law, social work, or a related field).
  • Demonstrated managerial experience in a professional setting.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience in training program development and/or engagement with the legal or forensic community is highly desirable.
