Open Rank-Tenure Track - Criminal Justice and Forensic Science
Responsibilities
The Department of Criminal Justice and Forensic Science at Hamline University invites applications for a tenure-track of Forensic Science, open rank, with any area of specialization in Forensic Science to begin Fall 2025. Program faculty are highly collaborative, public facing, and productive scholars. The Forensic Science Program provides an undergraduate education in Forensic Science by focusing on the scientific foundations of forensic methods, practice, and high impact educational experiences. We are dedicated to building a vibrant educational environment in which all students learn and thrive. The department fosters an environment in which all members are supported and feel empowered to obtain their professional goals.
Our undergraduate education provides students with a comprehensive understanding of Forensic Science, drawing on the expertise of core faculty in Biology, Chemistry, Criminal Justice, and Forensic Science. We foreground practical hands-on learning through full use of our instrumentation and facilities, including the Crime Scene Training House, serological and DNA analysis procedures that mirror forensic laboratories, analysis and interpretation of DNA profiles generated using the SeqStudio Genetic Analyzer, analytical techniques and instrumentation commonly used in forensic chemistry or toxicology, and a mock courtroom used for practice expert testimony.
Tenure-track faculty typically teach six courses per academic year, which may include teaching of general education requirements or First Year Seminars, with a one course reduction during the first years and a three course release after a successful 3rd year review. A Ph.D. in Forensic Science, Chemistry, Biology or a related discipline, with application toward Forensic Science is required. ABD candidates will be considered but all degree requirements must be completed by August 30, 2026.
