Administrative Assistant for the Expert Witness Training Center and Crime Scene Laboratory

Responsibilities

Cedar Crest College invites applications for an Administrative Assistant for the college’s forensic science academic programs and our newly established Expert Witness Training Center and Crime Scene Laboratory, with a start date of July 2025. 

As administrative assistant for the forensic science program, the Administrative Assistant will work with the Director of the Forensic Science Program to maintain assessment data and other relevant information related to maintaining FEPAC accreditation of both the undergraduate and graduate forensic science program. 

The Expert Witness Training Center is designed to provide specialized training for professionals who may be called upon to testify in court or other legal proceedings. This includes forensic scientists, law enforcement investigators, social workers, first responders, and others in related fields. The Center will also serve as a resource for trial attorneys, offering them opportunities to hone their skills in direct and cross-examination of expert witnesses. 

The Administrative Assistant will play a central role in launching and shaping the direction of this innovative initiative.

Duties: 

  • Work with the Manager of the Center on all administrative tasks
  • Help the Center advertise trainings to professional organizations and local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Aid in website updates for the Center
  • Work with College’s Department of Finance on instructor contracts
  • Collect and organize survey data from training participants on program effectiveness
  • Handle on-line registrations and financial tracking
  • Help with scheduling of Center activities
  • Provide administrative assistance, as needed, for the Forensic Science academic programs associated with the Center

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in business administration, communications, or a related fields
  • 1–3 years of administrative or clerical experience which may include any of the following:
    • Familiarity with scheduling and calendar management
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
    • Experience with databases or administrative software (e.g., Google Workspace, QuickBooks, project management tools, etc.)
    • Event or meet planning experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills
