Responsibilities

The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences (HCIFS) is seeking applicants for the position of Deputy Medical Examiner. HCIFS, located on the Texas Medical Center (TMC) campus – the largest medical center in the world – offers two distinct services for the Harris County community; the Medical Examiner Service, and the Crime Laboratory Service. Accredited by seven accrediting organizations, and a member of TMC since 1983, HCIFS serves Harris County, the metropolitan Houston area, and six surrounding counties with a population of nearly 5 million.

 

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), or Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited (or equivalent) post-graduate residency program in anatomic / clinical pathology, and forensic pathology fellowship.
  • Ten years' experience in forensic pathology and death investigation, including five years’ experience supervising others.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Texas by the date of employment.
  • Certification by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic pathology and forensic pathology.
  • Maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License and maintain ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.

Compensation

  • Salary: $370,000.00 - $410,000.00 annually with FP Board
