Call for ASB Consensus Body Members

American Academy of Forensic Sciences Standards Board (ASB) is seeking new consensus body members. 

Each Consensus Body has 7 to 25 members. Members will be selected by the Board of Directors of the ASB. The ASB has six interest categories, applicants shall apply in their self-selected interest category. (Descriptions of the Interest Categories)

The ASB is specifically looking for applicants in the following underrepresented interest categories in each consensus body. 

Anthropology: General Interest, Jurisprudence and Criminal Justice, Producer, User – Non-Government

Bloodstain Pattern Analysis: General Interest, Jurisprudence and Criminal Justice, Producer

CSI: General Interest, Jurisprudence and Criminal Justice, Producer, User - Non-Government

DNA: Academics and Researchers, General Interest, Producer

Dogs and Sensors: Jurisprudence and Criminal Justice, Producer

Firearms and Toolmarks: General Interest, Producer, User – Non-Government (at this time this consensus body is at full capacity)

Footwear and Tire: General Interest, Jurisprudence and Criminal Justice, Producer, User Non-Government

Forensic Document Examination: Academics and Researchers, Jurisprudence and Criminal Justice, Producer, User - Government

Forensic Nursing: General Interest, Jurisprudence and Criminal Justice, Producer, User - Government

Forensic Odontology: General Interest, Jurisprudence and Criminal Justice, Producer, User - Government

Friction Ridge: Academics and Researchers, General Interest, Jurisprudence and Criminal Justice, Producer, User - Non-Government

Mass Fatality Management and Disaster Victim Identification: General Interest, Jurisprudence and Criminal Justice, Producer, User - Non-Government

Medicolegal Death Investigation: General Interest, Jurisprudence and Criminal Justice, Producer, User - Non-Government

Toxicology: Academics and Researchers, Jurisprudence and Criminal Justice, Producer

Wildlife Forensics: Academics and Researchers, General Interest, Jurisprudence and Criminal Justice, Producer, User - Non-Government

A person may apply to one or more Consensus Body, and need not indicate the same interest category for each Consensus Body application. 

An on-line application form is available. Applicants are requested to submit the online form to be considered for serving on the ASB consensus bodies by July 27, 2026
