Responsibilities

The City of Beverly Hills is seeking a qualified Senior Forensic Specialist, a position that will provide support services to the Beverly Hills Police Department. The ideal candidate should have experience in scene investigations and laboratory analysis for processing and comparing friction ridge impressions. The candidate should possess knowledge in collecting and preserving physical evidence, analyzing and examining friction ridge impressions, using modern photographic techniques and equipment, performing searches in automated fingerprint identification systems, employing laboratory development techniques, and be willing to train others. Candidates should possess analytical and effective communication skills, high interpersonal qualities, and a desire to enhance the Identification Bureau. The position requires exceptional customer service skills and a keen attention to detail. Candidates must be responsive and proactive when addressing the needs of the community and the Department. A strong commitment to public service and the ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion is critical for the position, as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality and act with integrity. 

This position requires the supervision of the recognition, collection, preservation, storage and analysis of physical evidence recovered from crime scenes and accident locations; and provides technical and responsible staff assistance. Qualifications

  • Equivalent to an Associate Arts Degree from an accredited college with major coursework in Criminology, Criminalities or a closely related field and four years of experience in law enforcement identification work to include crime scene investigation and/or the examination of latent print evidence, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • A Bachelor's Degree, completion of FBI or DOJ Basic and Advanced Fingerprint Courses and/or Basic and Advanced Field Evidence Technician Courses and Certification as a Latent Print Examiner and Crime Scene Analyst are highly desired. 
  • Possession of an appropriate, valid California Driver License.

Compensation

Annual Salary: $107,467.88 - $132,017.07 
+ 5% salary increase for being a certified latent print examiner 
+ On-call pay
