2025-26 FSF Jan S. Bashinski Grant Recipient Announced

The Forensic Sciences Foundation (FSF) is proud to announce that Kerri Matthews, BA, was awarded the 2025-26 FSF Jan S. Bashinski Criminalistics Graduate Thesis Assistant Grant for her submission, Investigating Trace Element and Bone Mineral Density Distribution in Human Cortical Bone Microstructure: The Potential for Species Discrimination and Individual Identification. The award consists of $1,850, a plaque presented at the Criminalistics Section Business Meeting, complimentary meeting registration at the future AAFS annual conference where her thesis has been accepted for presentation, and up to $1,400 for travel and per diem expenses toward the future conference attendance.
Kerri is a graduate student in the MS Human Skeletal Biology program at New York University. Her primary focus is in forensic anthropology. She is particularly interested in bone histology methods to aid in the positive identification of unknown human skeletal remains.
