Planning is underway for the 79th Annual Scientific Conference of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS), which will be held February 15–20, 2027, in Orlando, FL. AAFS President Jim Curuso has chosen the conference theme "Around the World and Beyond."

As we prepare the Digital & Multimedia Sciences (DMS) Section program, we are seeking the following:

Abstract Submissions

We encourage submissions on all aspects of digital and multimedia evidence. The deadline for abstract submission is August 1, 2026. Additional information and submission resources are available at: Abstract Submission | American Academy of Forensic Sciences.

Abstract Reviewers

The quality of our program depends on thoughtful peer review, and we are looking for volunteers to assist with abstract evaluations. Reviewers can expect to evaluate approximately 4–5 abstracts during the review period in August and September.

If you are interested in serving in this role, please complete the Google Abstract Reviewer Form by July 10, 2026. Responses received after July 10 are still welcome, as additional names may be added.

Session Moderators/Co-Moderators

We are also seeking volunteers to serve as session moderators and co-moderators. These individuals will assist with managing presentations, facilitating discussions, and helping sessions run smoothly on Thursday, February 18, and Friday, February 19, of the conference week. Moderating also may be used to meet promotion criteria within our section for those interested in advancing their membership status. While we are gathering volunteers now, assignments do not need to be finalized until later this fall.

If you are interested in serving in this role, please complete the Google Moderator Form when possible.

Section Involvement

Whether you are submitting research, moderating a session, reviewing abstracts, or all three, your participation helps strengthen the Digital & Multimedia Sciences Section and contributes to a high-quality scientific program. If you have further questions about these opportunities, please contact:

DMS Program Chair: Christina Malone at camalone@gmail.com
DMS Program Co-Chair: Yong Guan at guan@iastate.edu

We look forward to your contributions and to seeing you in Orlando in February 2027!
