Forensic Sciences Foundation’s 2023 Emerging Forensic Scientist Award Winners: Elaine Chu, Ya-Chih Cheng, Sara Walton

The 24th Annual Forensic Sciences Foundation (FSF) Emerging Forensic Scientist Award paper competition was hosted in Orlando, FL. The following presenters were selected as the 2023 winners by the panel of judges:

  • Elaine Y. Chu, PhD (Anthropology) was selected for the presentation "Expanding the Scope of Subadult Stature Estimation"​
  • Ya-Chih Cheng, MS (Toxicology) was selected for the presentation "The Development of a Next Generation Sequencing Panel Targeting Cannabinoid Synthase Genes to Distinguish Between Marijuana and Hemp"​
  • Sara E. Walton, MS (Toxicology) was selected for the presentation "Toxicological Surveillance of Clinical Patients Presenting to the Emergency Department After Suspected Opioid Overdoses: Geographical Trends and Impacts on Forensic Toxicology"

Congratulations to all of the winners! They will each receive expense reimbursement to attend the 76th Annual Scientific Conference in Denver, CO.
