Forensic Pathologist
Responsibilities
The Pinal County Medical Examiner’s Office (PCMEO) in Florence, Arizona, is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Medical Examiner/Forensic Pathologist. PCMEO serves around 550,000 residents in southern Arizona, offering medicolegal death investigations and autopsy services from a modern forensic facility established in 2023.
Under general direction, the Medical Examiner performs work of considerable difficulty in postmortem examinations to determine the cause and manner of death and, if necessary, assists law enforcement in identifying deceased persons. Services are provided for Pinal County and may include other jurisdictions pursuant to intergovernmental or cooperative agreements.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an approved school of medicine
- Possession of a current license to practice medicine in the State of Arizona, as required by the Arizona Department of Professional Regulation; out-of-state applicants may obtain and provide proof of Arizona licensure within 90 days of hire.
- Arizona residents must have an Arizona Driver’s License upon hire; newly established Arizona Residents must have one within 30 days of hire.
- Certification in Anatomic Pathology and Forensic Pathology by the American Board of Pathology at the time of employment or within two years of employment.
- Preferred Qualifications: One (1) year of professional experience in forensic pathology.
Compensation
$241,931 - $329,664, DOE
