We are pleased to announce that the Journal of Forensic Sciences (JFS) has published the Introduction to JFS Special Section on Vicarious Trauma in Forensic Scientists (Introduction) by AAFS President Joanna Collins. In her Introduction, AAFS President Collins summarizes how the Special Section articles increase awareness of the cumulative psychological toll of indirect trauma associated with the job. The articles confirm that working in forensic sciences is inherently linked to the risk of vicarious trauma and secondary traumatic stress, from scene to lab to courtroom, regardless of the discipline.
