Fayetteville State University Forensic Science Program Announces Capstone Presentations

Source: The Fayetteville State University, Forensic Science Bachelor of Science

Every year in April graduating seniors are evaluated based on their performance in a capstone (FORS 460) course experience. Each student is assigned a specific mock crime scene and sealed various evidentiary items with a chain of custody list. Evidentiary items represent different forensic disciplines; for example, biology (serology and DNA), trace evidence like glass, paint, hair, bullet casings, etc., and latent fingerprints on various objects. Students perform laboratory analysis under the supervision of faculty members using various techniques and instrumentations. The students conclude by preparing and presenting their work to the advisory committee (forensic professionals). Advisory committee members grade the presentations and vote for the best presentation among presenters. The winner (student) receives a plaque with his/her name engraved on it.
