AAFS IEOP 2026—Save the Date!
The 2026 AAFS International Educational Outreach Program (IEOP) will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria, May 21-25, 2026, followed by the International Association of Forensic Sciences (IAFS) Meeting, May 25-30, 2026.
Since 1986, the AAFS has fostered international professional exchange in the form of the AAFS IEOP encouraging members to attend the many worldwide forensic science conferences. The objective of AAFS international travel is to provide opportunities to Academy members to meet with forensic science colleagues, to participate whenever possible in major international forensic science meetings, to visit laboratories and, at the same time, to experience the rich heritages and cultures of the peoples and lands to be visited.
In partnership with the 24th Triennial Meeting of the IAFS in Sofia, Bulgaria, President Collins and President-Elect Caruso will be hosting an IEOP. The itinerary will include the stay in Sofia. Following the design of previous tours, AAFS members will have opportunities to meet with forensic science colleagues in Bulgaria and take advantage of the cultural and historical riches of the wonderful sites to be visited.
Nationals of Schengen countries, the United States, Australia, and Canada can enter Bulgaria for short-term stays without a visa.
