Call for Applications for FEPAC Commissioners

The Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission (FEPAC) accredits forensic science education programs that award bachelor's or master's degrees in forensic science or in a natural science with a forensic science concentration. FEPAC accredits the following forensic science program concentrations:

  • Undergraduate: Criminalistics, Biology, Chemistry, Digital Evidence, and Crime Scene Investigation
  • Graduate: Biology, Chemistry, and Digital Evidence

Commission Vacancies

Beginning in February 2027, FEPAC will fill three (3) vacancies on the Commission, each serving a three-year term (February 2027 – February 2030):

  • Two (2) Academician positions
  • One (1) Practitioner position

For the upcoming term, the Commission has identified the following strategic priority areas and is particularly interested in candidates with demonstrated experience in:

  • Crime Scene Investigation
  • Digital Forensics
  • International accreditation

Eligibility Requirements*

All Commissioners (except the Public Member) must be Members or Fellows of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS).

To serve as a forensic science Academician, an individual must be a faculty member or administrator at a college or university offering a FEPAC-accredited forensic science program.

To serve as a forensic science Practitioner, applicants who possess one (1) or more of the following qualifications are desired:

  1. Forensic laboratory management experience or supervisory experience in a large laboratory or in a longstanding capacity;
  2. Membership in the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors (ASCLD);
  3. Experience as a FEPAC Site Evaluator;
  4. Service in other capacities to AAFS and/or other forensic organizations;
  5. Involvement in hiring decisions within a forensic laboratory; or
  6. Involvement in the training of new hires in a forensic laboratory.

No two Academician Commissioners may be from the same institution, nor may any two Practitioner Commissioners be from the same agency.

Commitment

Commissioners are expected to participate in the following Commission meetings:

  • Monthly virtual Commission standing meetings and/or subcommittee meetings;
  • One (1) in-person meeting held in February in conjunction with the Annual AAFS Conference; and
  • When applicable, a mid-year meeting conducted virtually or in person (location to be determined).

Travel and related expenses for in-person meetings are provided by FEPAC.
