The International Association of Forensic Sciences' (IAFS) triennial meeting  was held in Sydney, Australia, last month. AAFS leadership was represented by Past President Laura Fulginiti, Treasurer James Caruso, and Secretary Sarah Kerrigan.

The Douglas M. Lucas Medal was presented during the Opening Ceremony to Dr. Christophe Champod of the University of Lausanne for his contributions on behalf of international forensic science. Dr. Fulginiti and her husband, Honorable Dan Martin, were able to spend time with Dr. Champod and his wife, Dr. Tacha Hicks Champod, both during the IAFS Presidential Dinner as guests of Dr. Claude Roux and the following week at a more casual dinner in Port Douglas.

Dr. Fulginiti is sincerely grateful to Dr. Roux for his hospitality and applauds his success at the IAFS meeting. She was humbled to present the medal to Dr. Champod, who expressed great appreciation for the recognition of his work by the AAFS. Special thanks to Dr. Caruso for safely transporting the award to Sydney.
