The Journal of Forensic Sciences Announces a New Associate Editor, Dr. Heather Garvin

I am delighted to announce that the Journal of Forensic Sciences (JFS) has appointed a new Associate Editor (AE), Heather M. Garvin, PhD.

Dr. Heather Garvin is a Professor of Anatomy and Forensic Anthropologist, Des Moines University, in West Des Moines, IA, and will be assuming the JFS AE role for Anthropology on September 1, 2026. Dr. Garvin is a Member of the JFS Editorial Board and is well qualified to act as the Anthropology AE. We are delighted that she has agreed to join the JFS Leadership Team and look forward to her future contributions. She will assume the AE responsibilities previously held by Dr. Ann Ross, who recently stepped down from her JFS AE role for Anthropology.

My thanks and gratitude are extended to Dr. Ross, who has been a dedicated and enthusiastic member of the JFS Leadership Team in her JFS AE role and was a tremendous help in making the new JFS structure the successful model it is today. She also performed the JFS AE duties for Anthropology manuscript submissions with professionalism and integrity. Dr. Ross will continue to serve as a JFS Editorial Board Member.

AEs were incorporated into the JFS process in 2017 and have played an integral role in the evolution of JFS. It is their dedication and effort that make JFS one of the leading forensic science journals in the world. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Garvin on her new appointment as well as thanking Dr. Ross for her vital contributions during her tenure as JFS AE.
